Facebook Popularity Contest: Can You Believe Gaga Beat Obama to 10 Million Fans!

Lady GagaCelebrity or Politician? President Obama or Lady Gaga?  Who is more popular on Facebook, the king of cyber space social network?  Well, jury is in, Laday Gaga beat the President of the United States in this popularity contest on Facebook. 

Both President Obama's Page on Facebook, and Lady Gaga's Page on Facebook have reached about 9.1 million fans (or Likes) by Friday June 25, 2010.  Over the last two weeks, Lady Gaga's Fan count has been growing at more than 100,000 people per day, while President Obama who won his election partially with the power of social network, only grew at about 1/3 of that.  As the result, Laday Gaga cross the 10 million fans mark first.  On July 2, Lady Gaga sent a 34-seconds Thank You video to her fans on Facebook, thanking Her Little Monsters on Facebook for making her the first LIVING person reaching 10 million fans on Facebook.

Facebook Popularity Contest: Will Gaga Beat Obama? (updated 8:30am 7/2)

Lady GagaPresident Obama or Lady Gaga?  Who is more popular on Facebook, the king of cyber space social network?  This is a very interesting and intense competition, a close popularity contest race between a black male political leader and a white female singer.  At the beginning of the last weekend, both President Obama's Page on Facebook, and Lady Gaga's Page on Facebook have reached about 9.1 million fans (or Likes).  Over the next few days, both are expected to cross the 10 million fans mark.  The question is who will do that first?  We at Plum7 will be keeping a close look, and keep you updated.  Check back for frequent updates.

In this week's Top 10 Pop Chart has been published on Plum7.com.  Rude Boy from Rihanna's album Rated R jumped back up to the top position as the most popular Pop Music of the week, pushing Jason Derulo's In My Head to number two.  Hey Soul Sister by Train, Nothin' On You by B.o.B Featuring Bruno Mars, and Break Your Heart by Taio Cruz Featuring Ludacris all rose up two notches to number 3, 4, and 5, by pushing down the double ladies on the pop chart: Lady Antebellum's Need You Now and  Lady Gaga's Telephone dropped to number 6 and 7. Ke$ha's new Your Love Is My Drug appears in the top 10 for the first time, debuting at the 9th position this week.
